How to Permanently Delete (or Disable) Your Twitch Account
Last reviewed: October 2026 · Independent guide, not affiliated with Twitch
Twitch separates disabling (temporary — log back in to reactivate) from deleting (permanent removal after a reactivation window shown on the confirmation screen). Deletion is done from a dedicated page, not from the Disable Account option in settings.
Deleting removes your channel, VODs, clips you created and follows. Subscriptions and Turbo should be cancelled first.
At a glance
- Time required: About 3 minutes
- Disable vs delete: Disabling is reversible; deletion is permanent after Twitch’s stated window
- What is lost: Channel, VODs, clips, followers, username
- Subscriptions: Cancel subs, Turbo and Prime Gaming links first
Before you delete
- Download VODs and clips you want to keep (Creator Dashboard > Content).
- Cancel subscriptions and Turbo, and unlink Prime Gaming.
- Request payouts if you are an Affiliate or Partner.
- Unlink connections such as Discord or game accounts.
How to delete your Twitch account
- Sign in on the web and go to twitch.tv/user/delete-account.
- Read the information about deletion and optionally give a reason.
- Click Delete Account and confirm with your password and 2FA code if asked.
- Note the reactivation deadline shown; after it passes the account is permanently deleted.
Menus change often. If a button has moved, use the search box in the app's settings or the official help link above.
Disable instead
Under Settings > Security and Privacy > Disable your Twitch Account you can hide your channel temporarily. Log in again to reactivate.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens to my streams and clips?
Past broadcasts, highlights, uploads and clips you created are deleted with the account. Download them first.
Can I recover a deleted Twitch account?
Only within the reactivation window Twitch shows when you delete. After that it is permanent.
What happens to my subscriptions?
Cancel them yourself first; deleting the account may not refund remaining time.
Is disabling the same as deleting?
No. Disabling hides your account temporarily; deleting removes it for good.
