How to Permanently Delete Your Discord Account

Discord gives you two options: Disable Account, which hides you but keeps everything, and Delete Account, which permanently removes your profile after a short waiting period. You cannot delete the account while you still own servers.

Messages you sent in servers and DMs are not automatically erased; they remain, attributed to “Deleted User”. Remove sensitive messages manually first if that matters to you.

Before you delete

Transfer ownership of every server you own (Server Settings > Members > Transfer Ownership) or delete the server.
Cancel Nitro and server boosts in User Settings > Subscriptions.
Request your data under Privacy & Safety > Request all of my Data.
Delete messages you don’t want left behind; account deletion does not remove them.

How to delete your Discord account

Open Discord and click the gear icon (User Settings) next to your name. On mobile, tap your profile picture, then the gear.
Select My Account and scroll to the bottom.
Click Delete Account. If Discord says you own servers, transfer or delete them first.
Enter your password (and 2FA code if enabled) and confirm. Your account is scheduled for deletion.

Menus change often. If a button has moved, use the search box in the app's settings or the official help link above.

Disable vs delete

Disable Account stops notifications and hides you, but your data stays and you can come back any time by logging in. Delete Account schedules permanent removal; Discord’s help center describes a 14-day period during which logging in cancels the deletion.
