How to Permanently Delete Your Steam Account

Last reviewed: October 2026 · Independent guide, not affiliated with Steam (Valve)

Steam accounts are deleted through Steam Support, not from the client settings. Deleting removes every game license you own, your Steam Wallet funds, inventory items and community profile. None of it can be refunded or transferred.

After you request deletion, Steam holds the account restricted for 30 days and then deletes it; you can cancel within that time through Support.

At a glance

  • Time required: About 5 minutes to request
  • Waiting period: 30 days before deletion
  • What is lost: All games, DLC, wallet funds, items, profile
