How to Delete Your YouTube Channel (and Keep Your Google Account)

Your YouTube channel is part of your Google Account. You can hide it (reversible) or permanently delete it, removing videos, comments, playlists and history — while your Gmail, Drive and other Google services stay.

To remove YouTube along with everything else, delete your whole Google Account instead.

Before you delete

• Download your videos with Google Takeout (YouTube and YouTube Music).
• Cancel YouTube Premium and channel memberships.
• Check Brand Accounts — each channel may be its own Brand Account.

How to delete your YouTube channel

1. Sign in to YouTube on a computer and make sure the right channel is selected.
2. Go to Settings > Advanced settings and click Delete channel (you’ll be taken to your Google Account).
3. Sign in again if prompted.
4. Choose I want to permanently delete my content, tick the boxes to confirm and click Delete my content.
5. Alternatively, use Google Account > Data & privacy > Delete a Google service and pick YouTube.

Menus change often. If a button has moved, use the search box in the app's settings or the official help link above.

Hide instead

Choose I want to hide my channel to make videos and channel private and hide comments. You can unhide later by creating the channel again in YouTube settings.
