How to Permanently Delete Your Google Account

Deleting your Google Account removes everything attached to it: Gmail, Drive, Photos, YouTube channel, Calendar, Contacts, Play Store purchases and Android backups. It also signs you out of any app or website where you used Sign in with Google.

Before you delete

Export your data with Google Takeout (takeout.google.com).
Cancel Google One, YouTube Premium and Play subscriptions.
Replace “Sign in with Google” logins on other sites with an email and password.
Remove the account from Android phones or add another account to keep using Google Play.
Workspace users: accounts managed by work or school can only be deleted by the admin.

How to delete your Google Account

Go to myaccount.google.com and open Data & privacy.
Scroll to More options and click Delete your Google Account. Sign in again if prompted.
Review the list of data that will be deleted and download anything you still need.
Tick both acknowledgement boxes (that you remain responsible for pending charges and that you want to delete the account).
Click Delete Account.

What happens after deletion

You lose access to every Google service with that account, and your Gmail address cannot be reused. Google says some data is retained for a period for legal or security reasons. If you change your mind, try account recovery quickly — Google may be able to restore a recently deleted account, but there is no guaranteed window.

Inactive account alternative

Google’s Inactive Account Manager can delete your account automatically after a period of inactivity you choose, and Google may delete accounts that are unused for two years.
