Spotify calls deletion closing your account. If you have Premium you must cancel it first and wait until it ends. The closure is confirmed by email, and you then have 7 days to reactivate from the link in that email.

Deleting your account removes your playlists, saved songs and followers. Playlists you made can’t be exported directly, but third-party transfer tools can copy them to another service before you close.

Before you delete

• Cancel Premium at spotify.com/account (or in the app store / carrier you pay through).
• Request your data in Account > Privacy settings > Download your data.
• Copy playlists to another account or service if you want to keep them.
• Family or Duo plan managers: closing affects members’ access.

How to close your Spotify account

1. Cancel Premium if you have it and wait until you are on the Free plan.
2. Go to Spotify’s Close account support page and log in.
3. Follow the prompts, confirming it is the right account and that you understand what will be deleted.
4. Open the email Spotify sends and click Close my account.
5. If you change your mind, use the reactivation link in Spotify’s confirmation email within 7 days.

What happens after closing

After 7 days the account is permanently deleted and your username can’t be recovered. Collaborative playlists you created remain for collaborators. You can later sign up again with the same email, starting from scratch.
